Obituary


James Richard "Dick" Allen Age 72 died 06-16-2017 at his home in Flora after a lengthy illness. He was born in Helena, Arkansas and moved to Jackson, MS in the Mid 50's. He graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1962. He worked for Drake Saw Corp. along with his father, they both moved to Waco TX to work for Hicks Saw and Tool. They then moved back to Jackson ,MS where he went to work for Complex building the original bridges for what is now known as the I-55 and I-20 “Stack” in Jackson....

James Richard "Dick" Allen Age 72 died 06-16-2017 at his home in Flora after a lengthy illness. He was born in Helena, Arkansas and moved to Jackson, MS in the Mid 50's. He graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1962. He worked for Drake Saw Corp. along with his father, they both moved to Waco TX to work for Hicks Saw and Tool. They then moved back to Jackson ,MS where he went to work for Complex building the original bridges for what is now known as the I-55 and I-20 “Stack” in Jackson. From there he went to work for Contractor’s Materials Company and Jackson Ready Mix. In 1972 Mr. Allen, his father and his Brother-in-law Bruce Perry opened Pyramid Saw & Tool Co. Inc.



Mr. Allen was an avid hunter and was a member of Buck Tracks Deer Club at Eagle Lake and Whitehall Deer Club in Port Gibson. He was an FFL Dealer. He was a Real-estate Agent with Lewis Cully Reality, A member of the Hinds County Sheriff’s Posse, a member of the Exchange Club of Jackson and was awarded ” The Man of The Year” with them, and he was also a member of the Touchdown Club for many years.



Mr. Allen is survived by his wife Betty Gwen Owens Allen, his daughter and son-in-law Trudy Denine "Deni" Allen Webster and Richard Lanier Webster IV, 2 Grandchildren James Anthony "Tony" Byrd and Meghan Gwen Byrd, 5 Great-Grandchildren Zoey Grace Byrd, James Allen "Bubba" Byrd, Jessie Drew Byrd, Jade Marie Newell, and Gwen Rose Byrd as well as a God-Daughter Maura Cherie Parrish Renfroe. Sister and Brother-in-law Diane and Bruce Perry, and sister and brother-in-law Memorie and Paul Hood. As well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his father Jesse Carl Allen, Mother Maura Juanita Fair Allen and Patricia Gayle Allen Parrish.



Services will be held at Franklin Baptist Church in Flora on Tuesday 6-21-2017. Visitation will be from 9:00am to 11:00am with service to follow. Internment will be at Bethal Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Hardin, John Bennett, Matt Perry, Nate Perry, Patrick Hood and Mike Perritt.
