Albert Hardy Nall, Jr., 85, was born June 25, 1932 in Petal, MS and died at home in Jackson, MS on July 26, 2017. He was the son of Hardy Nall, Sr. and Erma Shannon Nall. Hardy was an exceptionally gifted man and lived a long and good life. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1950 and enrolled in Millsaps College in the fall. Albert Hardy Nall, Jr., 85, was born June 25, 1932 in Petal, MS and died at home in Jackson, MS on July 26, 2017. He was the son of Hardy Nall, Sr. and Erma Shannon Nall. Hardy was an exceptionally gifted man and lived a long and good life. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1950 and enrolled in Millsaps College in the fall. His education was interrupted when the Dixie Division of the National Guard was called to serve in the Korean War. Honorably discharged from the Army in 1952, he returned to Millsaps College to complete his education. At Millsaps he won two acting awards for his performances in Oedipus and Hamlet. He was active in athletics and the Millsaps Singers, president of ODK, and graduated with honors. In 1956, he entered Yale Divinity School. In 1959, Yale awarded him the Wallcot-Caulkins Award for Preaching. He graduated in 1960 with a Masters in Sacred Theology. He was ordained in the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church. His last appointment was St. Mark's United Methodist Church, in a university community, at Bloomington, Indiana, 1968-1980. In 1983, he was employed by T. I. S., Inc. and spent fifteen years in training, development, publishing and operations. Hardy returned to Jackson in 1998 and for the last eighteen years of his life was actively associated with Briarwood United Methodist Church in Jackson as teacher, preacher, church visitor, and member of the Monday Morning Prayer Group. Hardy loved reading, writing, corresponding with friends, and restoring antique furniture and old clocks. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol Kathryn Nall. He is survived by his two sons, Alan and Lindie Nall and their children, Benjamin, Mia, and Luke; Jonathan and Gretchen Nall and their children, Ruth and Iris. He is survived by Carol's children, Kathryn and Bill Herrmann; Greg and Olga Carson & their children, Siena Mar and Javier Paolo; John and Janet Carlson and their children, Jackson Cole Carlson, Kendall, Lauren, and Holly Murphy. He is survived by his three sisters and one brother: Virginia Spitzkeit (Pete), Jo Loflin, Joyce Dortch (Richard), and John Nall (Bettye). Hardy's memorial service will be August 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Briarwood United Methodist Church, 320 Briarwood Drive, Jackson, MS 39206, (601) 956-4035.
